Due to large amounts of DDOS attacks in order to exploit MAC addresses for "free" usage of services, a large change will be made by Lightning admins very soon. A message in dutch has been recently posted in this topic (login required)

MAC accounts will stop working and you will need to get transferred to a M3U account.

As a reseller we are not happy with this decision, but do understand the urgency to get rid of this issue for once and for all. Server load is increasing due to these DDOS attacks (or brute force attacks

Most devices are able to login using Xtream API method (with username and password). We have a guide for this method here.

For Infomir MAG devices, and other devices that do NOT support this method. We highly recommend a Formuler/Amiko/Qsmarter STB device, since these devices are NOT able to login with Xtream API.

These devices are not compatible with user/pass (Xtream API login):

  • INFOMIR MAG devices 
  • BLOM-C devices
  • MAXYTEC devices 
  • SMART STB emulator

When Lightning staff has made these change, portal (MAC) logins will NOT work anymore. In order to avoid downtime, please open a ticket when you find the time, and request your MAC account to be changed to M3U accounts.

There has no fixed date been set for these changes as the staff is monitoring the situation closely, but we are requested to push as much as M3U accounts instead of MAC type accounts to prevent future problems.
